Southern Naiad has long stems which can grow in excess of 10 feet in prime conditions. Its leaves are dark green with a bit of purple and are short, growing no larger than half inch long. The leaves also tend to occur in clusters towards the water surface
Southern Naiad can grow in various depths of water and can help with nutrient filtration and provide an excellent source of habitat. However due to it reproducing via seeds which are found in each leaf and fragmentation, this weed can grow in dense colonies.
