Curly Leaf Pondweed

Curly Leaf Pondweed is an INVASIVE SPECIES.  This weed has a somewhat flattened stem which is very brittle to the touch.  The leafs are serrated, almost lasagna like and alternate in position along the stem with the leafs becoming more dense at the end of the plant.

Like its invasive counter-part Eurasian Watermilfoil, Curly Leaf can  be difficult to control and manage as its seeds can lay dormant in sediments for long periods of time (5-7 years) before sprouting.  Like milfoil this plant can reduce vegetative biodiversity and have negative impacts on fish populations.
