Cattails

This shoreline plant features a tall and broad leaf which can grown anywhere from 3-10 feet tall.  Cattails produces a brown stalk that resembles a hotdog and which holds the seeds of the plant.

Cattails act as a good buffer zone plant as they excel in areas with shallow water and they create a biological barrier which  prevents excessive nutrient run-off from reaching the pond.

Cattails may grow tall and become aesthetically unpleasing once they have become overgrown.
